No-exam life insurance
What qualifies people for expedited underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
A growing number of carriers now offer expedited underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount ranges, they make decisions based on your application, prescription records, driving history and other information sources without ordering a physical. Many decisions arrive within 24 hours. When you get a quote on this site, it tells you whether an exam is required, possibly needed, or not needed for that product.
What it changes
Skipping a physical exam doesn't mean skipping underwriting. Carriers still verify your answers, and a policy sold on false information can be challenged for up to two years. If the carrier's own data sources raise concerns, they may ask for an exam or blood tests anyway; it's your choice whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Typically people under around 60, applying for amounts under the carrier's accelerated limit, with no significant health issues and no tobacco use within the past year (or longer). Some carriers will take recent bloodwork from a doctor's visit in place of an exam.
Should a medical exam be required, it typically takes 20 to 30 minutes and happens at your home or workplace in the Madera area, with no out-of-pocket cost. For people in good health, exam results frequently lead to a better rate class, so an exam need not be a negative.
